Established in 1909, Lanzhou University is a major comprehensive institution directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China.It is also a prominent Lanzhou University included in the “985 Project” initiative. a Lanzhou University  recognized under the “211 Project” and classified as a national “Double First-Class” institution of Class A.

Lanzhou University has a complete range of disciplines with distinct characteristics, covering 12 disciplines . Thirteen disciplines, including chemistry, physics, materials science, earth science, botany and zoology, mathematics, engineering, biology and biochemistry, environment and ecology, clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, agricultural science and general social science, are among the top 1% in the world in ESI, among which chemistry is among the top 1‰ in the world in ESI .

Under the commission of the Ministry of Education of China, Lanzhou University is now recruiting full-time Chinese Government Scholarship graduate students from all over the world for 2024 .

  2.  Duration of study : 2-3 years for master’s students ; 4 years for doctoral students. Students of Chinese-taught programs whose HSK

scores do not meet the professional study requirements stipulated by our school need to take one year of Chinese tutoring.

Note: You are required to purchase third-party liability insurance at your own expense at RMB 100 per semester and RMB 200 per academic year .

  2.  Non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy;
  3.  Degree and age requirements:

Applicants for master’s degree programs must have a bachelor’s degree and be no older than 35 years old;

To apply for a doctoral degree, candidates must hold a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

3. Excellent academic performance and outstanding scientific research ability;

4. Not a recipient of other scholarships:

Chinese government scholarship students are not allowed to enjoy other scholarships (excluding various one-time awards ) established by the Chinese government at all levels and the institutions where they are admitted.

If discovered, their eligibility for the Chinese government scholarship will be revoked, and they will be required to return any funds received from the scholarship. For those who deliberately conceal their funding, in addition to being disqualified, they will not be allowed to apply for the Chinese government scholarship within three years.

 Students applying for Chinese-taught courses must have a HSK Level 4 transcript with a score of 180 or above (the certificate is valid for 2 years).

Students who have obtained a degree from a Chinese Lanzhou University using Chinese as the language of instruction do not need to provide a HSK certificate .

Students applying for English-taught courses must submit IELTS scores of 5.5 or above,

TOEFL scores of 80 or above, or other evidence that can demonstrate their English proficiency . Applicants whose first language is English are not required to submit proof of English proficiency.

5. Application Major

You can apply for any major of Lanzhou University that accepts international students. For specific information, please see Appendix 2 .

6. Application Materials

please renew your passport in time.Applicants currently residing in mainland China must also provide a copy of their valid visa page or residence permit page.

Notarized diploma of bachelor degree or above (Documents in languages ​​other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations; fresh graduates must submit a certificate of expected graduation);

Notarized transcripts (starting from undergraduate studies). Scanned transcripts should include grades from undergraduate, master’s (if any), and doctoral (if any) studies up to the most recent semester.

Transcripts should be issued and stamped by the academic affairs office, graduate school, or relevant student management department of the school you are attending. Transcripts in Chinese or English can be provided.If the transcript is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a notarized English translation.

Language proficiency certificate. (Chinese or English) Copy of test transcript ;

Pre-admission letter or tutor’s letter of acceptance . Applicants must provide our school’s pre-admission letter or tutor’s letter of acceptance when submitting materials online .

7Study plan in China . A study plan in Chinese or English (more than 1,000 words) should be submitted .The study plan for doctoral students must be signed by the Chinese supervisor. It can be written only in Chinese or English.

Recommendation letters. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors are required and should be submitted in either Chinese or English.

The content should focus on the applicant’s study goals in China, the cooperation or inter-school exchanges between Chinese institutions or Chinese tutors and foreign tutors, and the evaluation of the student’s overall capabilities and potential for future growth

Copies of research results. Abstracts or catalogs of published papers, award certificates, and other materials that prove academic achievements and research capabilities;

The “Foreigner Physical Examination Form” (Appendix 3) must be completed in either Chinese or English. Applicants must follow the form’s requirements precisely. The form must be thoroughly completed, feature a photo of the applicant with an official seal, and include both the signature and stamp of the examining doctor. Any form that does not meet these criteria or is not from a valid hospital will be considered invalid.

The examination results are valid for 6 months. Please bring the original when you report to the school;

Certificate of No Criminal Record”. Applicants must submit a certificate of no criminal record issued by the local public security agency, which is valid for 6 months.

If the applicant is unable to provide this document due to special reasons, he/she may sign a letter of commitment of no criminal record (see Annex 4);

VII. Application Procedure

Step 1: Log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship website to register. The specific website is register . The type of study abroad program is Class B, and the code of the receiving institution is: 10730 (Lanzhou University). Please refer to Attachment 1 for specific steps .

Step 2: Applicants must register and log in to the Lanzhou University online application system.

Step 3: After the review is passed, we will contact the applicant to send the pre-admission materials. After receiving them, the applicant needs to modify the application and re-upload the pre-admission materials to the Chinese Government Scholarship Study Abroad Management Information System.

Please note:

  1. No need to mail paper materials.
  2. Enter a valid email address and check it frequently. Lanzhou University will inform you of the approval process and arrange correspondence interviews via email.
  3. Applicants are required to complete their applications through the Lanzhou University online application system. Applications not submitted in the system will not be accepted.

8. Admission and Enrollment

1. Review and admission process: preliminary review by the International Cultural Exchange College – review and interview by the professional college – pre-admission by the school – final review by the China Scholarship Council – formal admission .

The admission result will be announced around July 15 (subject to the notification of the China Scholarship Council).

2. The enrollment time is early September every year. The specific time is subject to the “Admission Notice”. Admitted students must strictly follow the requirements and go to Lanzhou University to complete the registration procedures within the time specified in the admission notice.

Those who fail to complete the admission procedures after the specified enrollment time will be disqualified from admission.
