The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, claimed that he had communication with reptilians.
False Verification: López Obrador discussed the unlawful use of money by politicians to bribe media outlets and journalists, referring to it as the reptile fund, during a conference in 2021.
However, there is no evidence in the official transcriptions of him mentioning reptilians, who are intelligent beings that, according to conspiracy theories, allegedly disguise themselves as humans and hold positions of authority.
Posts shared on Facebook and TikTok claim that President López Obrador revealed the existence of reptilians and stated that he had communicated with them. These claims are being circulated.
Publications shared on social networks claim that Mexican President AMLO has unmasked reptilians and revealed that he has had conversations with them.
These claims are accompanied by a video of the president speaking at a press conference.
López Obrador can be heard stating in the recording, “They brought them down to the depths, into the fray, experiencing the lowest levels of deceit. In my campaign, I made it clear: they can refer to me as a ‘jerk,’ but I am not deceitful.”
The video does not reveal the president acknowledging the existence of reptilians. In reality, it consists of two separate clips where López Obrador addresses journalists and political opponents during the morning conference on February 26, 2021.
The president often revisits past events in Mexico, and he stated that dictator Porfirio Díaz, who held power for three decades, engaged in bribery with journalists.
The dictatorship is over, and Gustavo Madero discontinues the financial support for the press. There was an allocation referred to as ‘the reptile fund,’ which was used to provide money to journalists.
The term “reptile fund” has been used for a long time and was not invented by López Obrador. According to an article in the journal The Historian, the term was used during the government of Otto von Bismarck, who unified Germany in the 1870s and served as chancellor for 19 years. It referred to the payments made by the government to the press.
During the press conference, López Obrador also acknowledged his opponents’ right to be against him. However, he accused them of fostering an atmosphere of distrust.
This action creates a perception of equality among everyone despite the different reality. While campaigning, I mentioned that people might label me as a ‘jerk,’ but it does not make me a lizard. Thus, we must understand that we are not all alike.”
After reviewing stenographic versions of the presidential conferences, The Associated Press found no evidence of any mention of reptilian beings or references to this conspiracy theory.
