Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl Title
Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid have propelled the Kansas City Chiefs into dynasty status in LAS VEGAS.
They’re already aiming for a three-peat.

Pop Star Taylor Swift
As pop star Taylor Swift watched her boyfriend Kelce from a suite, the Chiefs clinched their third title in five years. This remarkable achievement solidifies their place among the league’s elite franchises.
“Well, the goal has always been to secure three,” Kelce exclaimed on stage after sharing a celebratory kiss with Swift. “But reaching this point required us to achieve that second victory and carry the target on our backs all year… How about that? We now have the opportunity to go for three consecutive wins!”
Super Bowl Played
The NFL’s inaugural Super Bowl in Las Vegas proved sloppy and error-prone, largely lacking excitement until the dramatic fourth quarter and overtime. This game marked only the second occasion out of 58 Super Bowls, where the score was tied after regular play.
Notably, it was also the first Super Bowl played under new overtime regulations that guaranteed both teams an opportunity with the ball.
Jake Moody’s
The Chiefs (15-6) were trailing 22-19 after Jake Moody’s 27-yard field goal on the opening possession of overtime. However, Mahomes showcased his prowess again by leading the Chiefs to a remarkable comeback in a rematch of the Super Bowl from four years ago.
In a critical moment, Mahomes scrambled for 8 yards on fourth-and-1, keeping the Chiefs’ hopes alive. He followed up with a 19-yard scramble to set the stage for the winning score, which arrived just 14 minutes and 57 seconds into the extra period, narrowly avoiding a second overtime.
Super Bowl MVP Award
We are considering all our challenges this season to emerge victorious tonight. I’m incredibly proud of the team,” Mahomes expressed, having clinched his third Super Bowl MVP award.
“This is incredible. Truly legendary.”
Following his connection with a wide-open Hardman, the Chiefs stormed the field as red-and-yellow confetti cascaded down onto the turf.
Mahomes and Reid have now achieved half the journey of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, who secured six championships over 20 years together with the New England Patriots and were the most recent team to achieve back-to-back victories following the 2003-04 seasons.
At just 28 years old, Mahomes becomes the fourth starting quarterback to win three Super Bowls, joining the ranks of Brady, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Troy Aikman, and he’s the second-youngest to do so.
65-Year-Old Coach
“I’ll celebrate tonight, revel in the parade, and then set my sights on returning to this game next year,” Mahomes declared. “I’ll do whatever it takes to be back here. Three-peat.”
The most notable moment in the first half was when a frustrated Kelce accidentally bumped into Reid on the sideline, causing the Chiefs’ 65-year-old coach.
“You guys catch that?”
Kelce quipped. “I’ll keep it between us unless my ‘mic’d up’ spills the beans to the world. I was just expressing my love for him.”
The pace intensified following a critical mistake by San Francisco’s special teams, paving the way for Mahomes’ 16-yard touchdown pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, giving the Chiefs a 13-10 lead.
Despite a response from Brock Purdy and the 49ers (14-6), they couldn’t muster enough plays, preventing “Mr. Irrelevant” from going from the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft to Super Bowl champion.
We possess the offensive capability to score touchdowns, and I fell short in positioning the team to do so,” Purdy lamented.
Niners wide receiver Jauan Jennings made a significant impact by throwing a touchdown pass and catching one, a feat achieved only by Eagles quarterback Nick Foles six years prior in the Super Bowl.
Following Moody’s 53-yard field goal, which handed the Niners a 19-16 lead with 1:53 left on the clock, Mahomes and Kelce sprung into action.
Mahomes found Kelce for a crucial 22-yard gain, positioning Harrison Butker to kick the game-tying field goal, a 29-yarder with just 3 seconds remaining.
A holding penalty against Kansas City’s Trent McDuffie prolonged San Francisco’s initial drive in overtime, and Purdy orchestrated key passes to advance the 49ers to the Chiefs’ 9-yard line. However, San Francisco settled for a field goal.
Christian McCaffrey
Purdy, alongside Christian McCaffrey and the Niners, surged to a 10-0 lead. Yet, in the Super Bowl, such deficits have proved surmountable for Mahomes and the Chiefs. They’ve trailed by 10 points in all three of their victories, including last year’s 38-35 triumph over Philadelphia.
Though Mahomes didn’t start the game at his best and threw an interception, he showcased his trademark brilliance when it mattered most. By the game’s conclusion, he completed 34 46 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns.
The Chiefs didn’t dominate during the regular season and entered the playoffs as the AFC’s No. 3 seed. Their postseason journey included victories at Buffalo and Baltimore, marking Mahomes’ first road playoff wins. Despite their accomplishments, they were considered two 1/2-point underdogs entering the Super Bowl, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
Ray-Ray McCloud
“The Kansas City Chiefs are never underdogs. Just know that,” Mahomes confidently stated.
In a historic turn of events, they became the first team to secure consecutive Super Bowl victories as underdogs, reminiscent of the Philadelphia Eagles’ slight favorites status a year prior.
The game’s momentum shifted when San Francisco’s Ray-Ray McCloud failed to recover a punt that hit teammate Darrell Luter Jr.’s leg, allowing the Chiefs to gain possession at the 49ers 16-yard line. This pivotal moment set the stage for Mahomes’ crucial go-ahead touchdown pass to Valdes-Scantling.
The Niners responded on the subsequent possession, with Purdy delivering a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jennings, granting them a 16-13 lead. However, Moody’s extra point attempt was blocked.
In a bold move, Niners coach Kyle Shanahan opted to go for it on fourth-and-3 from the Chiefs’ 15-yard line, forgoing a potential tying field goal. Purdy connected with George Kittle for a 4-yard gain before finding Jennings for the touchdown.
Shanahan employed trickery for the only touchdown of the first half. Jennings, typically a wide receiver with no prior NFL passing experience, threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to McCaffrey. Despite being hit as he released a wobbly pass across the field, McCaffrey made the catch and sprinted to the end zone.
With this loss, Shanahan’s record as a head coach in Super Bowls dropped to 0-2, and his overall record, including his tenure as offensive coordinator for Atlanta, fell to 0-3.
Notably, this loss adds to the painful memory of the game in which Brady and the Patriots staged a remarkable comeback from a 28-3 deficit to win in overtime.
“When you’re up against talents like Tom Brady and Pat Mahomes, you never feel secure with a lead. These guys are among the greatest to ever play the game,” Shanahan remarked.
The NFL brought its grandest event to this renowned gambling hub, a concept once considered taboo. Celebrities like Jay-Z, LeBron James, and Paul McCartney graced the crowd with their presence.
Post Malone delivered a rendition of “America the Beautiful,” Reba McEntire performed the national anthem, and Usher lit up the halftime show. He brought out several guests, including Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, and Ludacris.
Paul McCartney
The attendance was announced at 61,629 at the relatively intimate Allegiant Stadium, marking the smallest crowd in Super Bowl history since the pandemic game in Tampa, Florida, three years ago.
While the start wasn’t promising, those fans witnessed one of the most thrilling Super Bowl finishes thanks to Mahomes.
Fans will have the opportunity to celebrate the Chiefs on Wednesday, Valentine’s Day. The Kansas City Sports Commission released the official parade route and timing late Sunday night, as reported by KMBC-TV. The festivities will kick off at 11 a.m.
