Just weeks after quitting as white-ball captain, Pakistan has picked former captain Babar Azam and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi for the limited-overs tour of Australia.
Pakistan included former captain Babar Azam and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi in its squad for the limited-over series in Australia this November after missing the last two Tests against England.
Selectors have announced that the duo will be rested for the upcoming one-day and T20 series against Zimbabwe next month.
On Sunday, Pakistan named Mohammad Rizwan as its new white-ball captain to replace 30-year-old Babar Azam, who resigned from the job earlier this month after his second stint.

Pakistan Cricket Board
Pakistan Cricket Board has released the complete squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. All-rounders Aamer Jamal and Arafat Minhas, spinner Faisal Akram, wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah, and batsmen Irfan Khan and Saim Ayub have been handed their first call-ups to the ODI team.
All-rounders Jahandad Khan and Salman Agha have received their Australia first-ever selections to Pakistan’s T20I team.
Babar Azam had first been entrusted with white-ball captaincy in 2019 and resigned after Pakistan was whitewashed in the ODI World Cup held in India last year. He was recalled as the T20I World Cup to be played in the United States and West Indies last month in March 2024 and Pakistan again suffered first-round elimination. He had resigned on October 2.
