PTI Disowns Advocate’s Prison Facilities Petition Filed on Imran Khan’s Behalf
Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf publicly distanced itself from a petition submitted to the Islamabad High Court by Advocate Faisal Hussain Chaudhry on Saturday. The petition, filed on behalf of PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, sought the restoration of certain amenities within the prison.
According to him, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had also allowed Advocate Faisal to file this petition. But PTI’s leadership said later on at night that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan never allowed it.
Advocate Faisal
News came out that Advocate Faisal had allegedly used a 25 years old wakalatnama (power of attorney) of Imran Khan, without authorization from PTI, which was the only reason of the filing of this petition on his own.
Just yesterday, it was reported that Faisal Chaudhry was removed from PTI’s legal team. The party Secretary General Salman Akram Raja had sought the removal of Chaudhry from all cases associated with the founder of PTI. Chaudhry was also said to have been removed from PTI’s legal WhatsApp groups. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed the same on Saturday night.
Faisal Chaudhry replied on X (formerly Twitter) that he knew Barrister Gohar was “under a lot of pressure.”
It was reported that Faisal Chaudhry, along with Intizar Panjutha, was trying to bring back certain leaders in PTI. This means there is some sort of power play inside PTI’s legal and leadership departments.
One notable event during this leadership purge and post-regime change situation in 2022 has been the withdrawal from party politics by Faisal Chaudhry’s brother Fawad Chaudhry, who held important cabinet positions for the ruling PTI.
History of the Petition
As argued, in the petition filed to the Islamabad High Court: “Imran Khan’s political opponents are trying to stain Imran Khan’s commitment toward democracy, the rule of law, the Constitution and Pakistani nation.” Since October 3, it said the prison authorities have subjected Imran Khan to severe oppression, which denies him lawful rights and disregards his rights under prison rules and regulations.

Former Prime Minister’s
This is due to the reason that in the former prime minister’s document, he had indicated that former PM had to face a lot of torments psychologically. He has been confined within small size like 8×6-foot without any exercising space as well as there was not enough fresh air for many days.
The electricity was used to be cut down at times due to this reason, making him stay for over 12 hours in stretches in solitary darkness purportedly at his direction as by the Government’s orders putting his health and security.
Other reports include bad food being served to Mr. Khan and claims of suffering from stomach pains and vomit. Also, since 3rd October, Mr. Khan has been forbidden from receiving newspapers or any literature, so he doesn’t know much about what happened to his family and members.
The petition sought that the high court direct jail authorities to provide Mr. Khan with proper facilities befitting his erstwhile prime ministerial status.
Toshakhana Case Indictment Postponed
The indictment of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana case has been postponed again, as Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand was on leave.
The judge was to indict them formally over allegations that they had purchased an expensive Bulgari jewelry set at Toshakhana at a nominal price. Due to the unavailability of Judge Arjumand, the court officials have further delayed the date for this month.
